When I last wrote about Horde, it was in it's 2.x iteration. Now Horde Groupware Webmail edition is out, and requires different configuration tactics than its predecessor. Can you still install it on IIS? You bet! Here's how.

Webmail is a hugely useful application of the web; being able to access mail, contacts, task lists, and so on is even better. Using the Horde system, you can do all that and more. However, the Horde site doesn't list how to install this software on a Micrsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) other than saying that it has been done. Well, it can be, and here's how, topped off with how to make it secure using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). (NB: This article is out of date, but may still have useful material.)

Today's internet offers a wide array of services, shopping, information, and fun things to do. Of course, with all those great things comes some not so great things. In other articles on this site, I've written about how to keep safe from malware and spam, but various other threats by e-mail exist and deserve special coverage. With that in mind, this article aims to point out some of these varied threats, illustrate the sort of damage they do (or can do), and show you what you can do to recognize, prevent, or deal with each of them.
Fear and Loathing on the Internet

The old logic was that a computer did what you told it to, when you told it to (for the most part). Nowadays, malicious individuals and even companies using the internet are bent on making your computer do what they want it to instead. The internet is not a safe place to be, and this goes for you as well as your computer. Learn how to protect yourself from viruses, spyware, malware, spam, ads, and more. This is an updated version of a guide I made about a year or two ago.
(Note: This was written circa 2006. Some software may no longer be appropriate, though the concepts are still the same. If you use FireFox, AdBlock Plus and WOT are two excellent extensions to use, for example).

As my time as club president for one of my TM clubs draws to a close and I get ready to transition to being an area governor (I hope), I'm happy to see new and excited leadership at two of them.
