After finally wrapping up my term as area governor and finishing up my high performance leadership project (a membership drive and process improvement for the Cy-Fair club which boosted our numbers from 9 to 17), I turned in everything in July. After some lengthy processing times, I finally came home and found a nice new plaque in the mail from Toastmasters International proclaiming my DTM status.
It's interesting because I'm probably one of the younger DTMs out there, even at 32. I'm sure there are younger, of course -- but on the whole, from what I've seen, I'm definitely not the common age for the title. That's okay though.
I received a standing ovation at the club I gave the award to...that was nice, but now I know I have a whole lot to do still yet -- CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) would be better.
Achieving DTM was very nice, but like finishing the MS150, the action was more in the process of attaining it rather than the actual award. It's great to have and all, but...something feels missing. I think it's time to get more outside of TM and make use of the skills I've learned, whether for fees or not.
