SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a big thing on the net, especially for those types who are in the business of raising their Google PageRank and page listing order. What's surprising to me is that...Slash.Net is found only accidentally from searches for things like "Toastmasters" or "speech topics". Some notable searches are:
"slash.net" -- Why not just type in the site name already? Arguably the number one search referral, sadly. I think a lot of these types are looking for slashdot.org, but oh well.
"www.info.slash.net" -- Doesn't exist, sorry.
"hacker slash.net" -- Admittedly a one shot, but what were they looking for? A manual on how to break into this site? "Here, it's not like I actually care about all the content here, so here's the administrator credentials, have fun!"
So to all those SEO fans, people searching for your site's name remains more popular than anything. At least, in my limited experience.
If you'll excuse me, I'm off to search for Facebook.com and Google.com. Elle oh elle, what.
